AI Setup Assistant

Describe the server you want in plain English and let Gemini plan roles, channels, and modules — then apply it in one click.

What it does

The AI Setup Assistant turns a sentence into a working server. You describe the community you want — "gaming server for a small Minecraft SMP, want verification and tickets" — and Gemini generates a full plan: roles, categories, channels, a welcome message, basic automod words, and a ticket panel. You review and edit the plan, then hit Apply and exceed builds it for you.

It is additive only. Applying a plan never deletes existing roles or channels — it only creates what is missing — so it is safe to run on a server that already has content.

How to use it

  1. Open the AI Setup Assistant page on the dashboard for your server.
  2. Type a description of your community in the box (up to 1000 characters). You can click one of the example prompts to start.
  3. Pick any style options you want the plan to follow:
    • Emojis — prefix channel names with a fitting emoji.
    • Dividers — add aesthetic divider categories.
    • NSFW — include one age-restricted channel.
    • Voice — include voice channels (on by default).
  4. Click Generate preview. Gemini returns a plan in a few seconds.
  5. Review it. The preview lists every role, every category and channel, and every module it will enable.

Editing the plan

The generated plan is a starting point, not a final answer. Click Edit plan to:

  • Rename, add, or remove roles, and change a role's permission preset (admin, mod, staff, member, muted) or whether it is hoisted.
  • Rename categories and set their access (public, staff, readonly).
  • Add, rename, retype (text/voice), re-access, move between categories, or delete individual channels.
  • Edit the text settings on enabled modules (for example the welcome message).

When you rename a channel, category, or role that a module points at, exceed updates the reference for you so the plan stays consistent.

What your edits change

The plan is what gets built, so your edits decide the result. When you apply:

  • Renaming or deleting roles and channels in the plan syncs to the server, so the names you set and the items you remove are reflected when exceed builds it.
  • Role permission changes you make in the plan apply too, so a role comes out with the preset you picked.
  • You can toggle individual features on or off in the plan, like verification or moderation, and that enables or disables them when you apply.

Applying

Click Apply. exceed hands the plan to the bot and creates everything in the background — large setups can take a minute or two. The page polls for progress and, when finished, shows a summary like "Created 5 roles, 18 channels, enabled 3 modules." If something goes wrong, you get a clear failure message and nothing is left half-broken.

Tip: The Setup Assistant is the fastest way to stand up a brand-new server, but it pairs just as well with Persona Chat — once your structure exists, give your community an AI personality.

Usage limits

Generating a plan and applying it each make Gemini calls that count against your server's shared monthly AI allowance. This is creator-triggered and low-volume, so it rarely makes a dent, but if your server has hit its monthly cap the assistant will be unavailable until the budget resets at the start of next month. See Usage & Limits and check your remaining budget on the AI Usage page.
