Friend Groups
Let members create their own group with a role, a private voice channel and DM invites nobody can be added to without accepting.
A friend group is a small crew inside your server. The member who opens one gets a role named after the group and a private voice channel only that role can see. Everyone else joins by accepting a DM invite. It is off by default.
Turning it on
,fgconfig needs Manage Server, or use the Friend Groups page in the dashboard:
,fgconfig on enable friend groups
,fgconfig category #Friend Groups where the voice channels go
,fgconfig min 3 members needed to open a group
,fgconfig max 10 most members a group can hold
,fgconfig required @Level 10 optional role needed to open one
,fgconfig anchor @Groups where new group roles sit in the list
,fgconfig limit 25 cap how many groups exist at once
,fgconfig voicelimit 5 cap each voice channel
,fgconfig show the current setup
Without a category, groups still work — they just get a role and no voice channel.
Making a group
,fg create movie night @alex @sam
That creates the role and voice channel, gives the owner the role, and DMs everyone mentioned an invite with Accept and Decline buttons.
Nobody is ever added without agreeing. Even the people named at creation get an invite rather than the role.
The minimum is checked once everyone has answered. If your server needs 3 members and only one person accepts, the group is closed automatically — role and voice channel deleted — and you get a DM explaining why. Mention more people and try again.
When the last invite is answered, the owner gets a DM summarising who joined and who declined.
Running a group
,fg add @member invite someone (owner and group admins)
,fg remove @member remove someone (owner and group admins)
,fg admin @member let a member invite and remove people
,fg unadmin @member take that back
,fg name <new name> rename the group, role and voice channel
,fg color #9b6bff set the role color
,fg icon 🎬 set a role icon, or attach an image
,fg transfer @member hand the group to someone else
,fg delete disband it
,fg info [@member] show a group
,fg list every group on the server
,fg leave leave the group you are in
Group admins can invite and remove members. They cannot rename, recolor, transfer, delete the group, or remove the owner or another admin — those stay with the owner.
Role icons need the server to be boost level 2. Without it, ,fg icon will say so rather than failing quietly.
Rules the bot enforces
- One group per person, whether you own it or joined it
- The maximum is checked before an invite is sent, so a group cannot be overfilled
- Invites are re-checked when accepted: still in the server, not in another group, group not full, role still there
- If the owner leaves the server, the group passes to the longest-standing member. If nobody is left, it is deleted
- If someone deletes the role by hand, the group and its voice channel are cleaned up
Where it lives
Dashboard: Community → Friend Groups. The page has the category picker, size limits, the optional required role, and a live list of every group with its owner and member count.
