Friend Matchmaker
Weekly interest-based intros that pair up members who'd probably get along — a nudge past the awkward first message.
Friend Matchmaker helps your members actually meet each other. People who opt in share a few interests, and once a week exceed pairs them with someone whose interests overlap, then introduces them with a short note about what they have in common. It's a gentle way to break the ice in a big server where everyone's a stranger.
Commands
Staff set it up:
,matchmaker on|off enable or disable weekly matching
,matchmaker channel <#channel> where intros are posted
Members opt themselves in and out:
,match optin <interests> join matching with a list of interests
,match optout leave the matching pool
Interests are just a comma-separated list, like ,match optin gaming, indie music, cooking, rust. The more you list, the better your matches.
How pairing works
Each week exceed groups the opted-in pool by shared interests and pairs people up, avoiding repeats where it can so you meet someone new. Intros are posted in the matchmaker channel with a one-line reason you two were matched. Nobody is ever matched without opting in first.
Setup
Use a visible, friendly channel so intros feel like part of the community rather than a private DM. Matching runs on a weekly cycle, so a fresh opt-in joins the next round.
